An auction of some of the most high value domain names in the travel sector has been moved to a new date. The auction was due to take place at London’s Excel Centre on the 5th of November, but has been re-scheduled.
Among the domains due to be auctioned are www.holiday.com, which is expected to become the most expensive domain name in history with an asking price of £20,000,000. It could even overtake the record for the most expensive domain name ever sold, which was previously held by www.insurance.com, bought for £21,000,000 in 2010.
“Holiday” is one of the most searched-for words on the internet and the most relevant keyword for travel companies all over the world, so the domain has massive potential and could bring in huge rewards and profits for any company lucky enough to snap up the domain name.
Travel companies have been dreaming of owning this highly valuable domain for many years, but so far without success. It has been owned by an American company for the last 16 years but has been simply lying dormant for that time. Now, its full potential could be unleashed.
The company behind the auction is Breathe Luxury, a “luxury concierge service provider”. As well as Holiday.com, they are set to sell off Journey.com, Paradise.com, Dubai.net, France.tv, Switzerland.tv, and many more domains which are sure to be extremely sought after by travel agents and holiday companies from across the globe.
