Google is rewarding sites which are optimised for mobile

April 26, 2015 by in category Google, News with 0 and 0

The internet has completely revolutionised the way we live our lives and conduct our businesses. Thanks to mobile technology and increasing availability of super fast internet speeds in a broad range of locations, we’re now able to discover new restaurants, buy products, book holidays, and do much more while we’re on the go, and the use of mobile devices to access the internet is only becoming more common. Data from last year reveals that 30 per cent of internet searches were completed on mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, and these figures have shown no signs of slowing down.

In 2015, we’re seeing mobile devices account for more than half of search engine queries, and Google are making changes as a response to this. As of late March, the world’s most successful search engine has implemented one of its biggest algorithm changes to date, meaning that a site’s mobile friendliness is now a key factor in its search engine placement. The new algorithm will scan pages for loading times, best practices and responsive design elements to determine whether they are mobile friendly. Sites which are faster, more responsive and suitable for accessing on mobile devices will be rewarded with higher search engine rankings.

If you want to gain business from your online presence, you need to increase visibility, and arguably the most effective way to do this is through improving your search engine rankings. Did you know that over 85% of search engine users do not go further than the first page of results? Mobile searches are growing at a rate ten times faster than desktop searches, so businesses without mobile sites could lose up to a third of their traffic and ultimately lose out on many potential customers. Fortunately, it’s not too late to begin implementing an effective SEO strategy and make sure that your website is optimised for mobile devices.

A mobile friendly website is not only great for search engine rankings, but great for consumer experience too. Studies show that consumers will simply leave a site if they are finding it difficult to navigate. We can help with all aspects of website design in Middlesbrough and aid you with online visibility, helping your business to stay one step ahead of the competition.
